Don’t choose the wrong sink.

When remodeling or building a home, selecting a sink might not be a top priority for you initially, but your sink is more important than you think. You spend a lot of time at the sink – doing dishes, washing your hands, cleaning produce, washing your face and so on. The type of sink you choose can also help you sell your home faster in the future. Here are tips to help you choose the right sink for any room.

1. Get creative with the material.

Many homeowners choose stainless steel for their sink, because it is durable. However, there are many more materials to choose from. Quartz sinks can add to the overall design of your room. Quartz sinks come in a wide range of colors from basic white to creamy mint.

2. Choose the basin that makes the most sense.

Single basin sinks are trendy right now. As more people use dishwashers for washing dishes, the sink has become a place to wash larger items and double-sided sinks have become less functional. However, your sink should make sense for you. If you still handwash your dishes, a double-sided sink is probably more useful.

3. Add another sink if you entertain.

A second sink might make sense if you entertain frequently. Having a sink in your lounge area can make it easier to make and serve cocktails and specialty drinks. The sink at your bar should be smaller and an undermount helps, so that you have more room to work, store alcohol and glasses.

4. Choose an undermount sink for the bathroom.

When installing a sink in a bathroom you will want to preserve as much counterspace as possible, so an undermount makes sense. If you have an extra bathroom or powder room, you could go for a less traditional sink that takes up more space.
